NMSU volleyball tops UTEP in five sets Wednesday
EL PASO, Texas – There’s plenty of sibling rivalry that happens around the dinner table come Thanksgiving Day, but there was also a bit of rivalry at Memorial Gym the day before Thanksgiving.
UTEP and New Mexico State squared off in what was the final match of the season for both squads.
NMSU ended up winning a tightly-contested five-set contest. The Aggies won the first set before dropping the next two, only to rally and claim the final two stanzas.
New Mexico State has been tough in five-set matches this year, winning eight of nine contests that went the distance.
Tatyana Battle led the Aggies with 20 kills, while Ariadnne Sierra tallied 38 digs in the win.
The Miners dropped to 8-22 overall on the year, while the Aggies finished 24-7.
NMSU completed the season sweep of UTEP, having won 3-0 earlier in the year.
