Wind damage across the Borderland

Here’s a look at Saturday’s wind reports and wind damage reports from the National Weather Service.

In Dona Ana County, San Augustin Pass reported an impressive 110 mph wind gust yesterday. San Augustin Pass is located above 5,500 feet in the Organ Mountains, it’s the route US-70 uses to pass through the mountains.

The 110 mph gust is just 16 mph shy of the record for the that location, 126 mph set on April 15th, 2003.

The airport in El Paso reported a 61 mph wind gust, and a 62 mph gust was reported in Las Cruces.

The highest gust in El Paso was reported in northeast El Paso at 71 mph.

Two semi trucks were reported to have rolled over Saturday morning according to the Department of Highways in New Mexico.

The first was reported at mile marker 98 on I-10 in Luna County, between Deming and Las Cruces around 9:30 a.m.

The second was reported around 9:45 a.m. at mile marker 28 on I-25 north of Las Cruces, that rollover is pictured above.

Winds estimated at over 70 mph were reported to have blown in dead bolted french doors at a home near Lee Trevino and Montwood. Car windshields in the area were also reported to have been blown out.

In Vado a mobile home reportedly lost its roof in the high winds.
