Man charged with 4 motorcycle thefts, 1 trailer theft
An El Paso man has been arrested and charged with the thefts four motorcycles and one trailer, said El Paso Police Thursday.
Police said on December 14, Roman Alberto Sanchez-Hernandez, 41, was stopped for a traffic violation and later arrested for an outstanding criminal warrant for Assault-Family Violence Impeding Breath.
At the time of the stop, Sanchez-Hernandez was driving a gold Suburban, towing a Triumph motorcycle on a trailer. Police said it was later revealed that the motorcycle had been stolen on November 21 from a the High Ridge Apartments located off Viscount.
A search warrant was then executed at the home of Sanchez-Hernandez and in the garage, ATTF officers located a Harley Davidson motorcycle allegedly stolen from a residence on the 2800 block of Yarbrough December 9, and a BMW motorcycle allegedly reported stolen from The Venue at Montecillo Apartments located on N. Mesa on October 3.
A trailer parked at his residence was also allegedly reported stolen from a home at the 5100 block of Prince Edward on October 23.
He was charged with the theft of the trailer and for tampering with the vehicle identification number. He has also been charged with the theft of a 2014 Harley Davidson stolen from the Spring Park Apartments located off Acer on December 8.
In that case witnesses reported seeing the motorcycle being loaded onto a trailer being towed by a gold Suburban. That motorcycle has not been recovered.
Sanchez-Hernandez was initially booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for the criminal warrant and numerous outstanding traffic warrants with bonds totaling just over $30,000. He was rebooked for the additional charges under bonds totaling $395,000.
