EPPD: Austin man pepper sprays Metro PCS employee, steals cash drawer

An Austin man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault after El Paso Police said he pepper sprayed a Metro PCS employee and stole money from the cash register.

Police said this happened January 23 around 1:45 p.m. at the Metro PCS on the 700 block of S. Oregon.

The investigation revealed that 31-year old David Saucedo allegedly entered the prepaid wireless service store, and yelled at the store employee to “get on the floor”.

Police said Saucedo then sprayed the employee with pepper spray, approached the cash register and pulled out the cash drawer and took the money. Saucedo then allegedly sprayed the employee again and left the store.

Saucedo was followed by the store employee and others, and was later stopped at the Paso Del Norte bridge at 1000 S. El Paso Street where he was detained.

Police said Central patrol and tactical officers placed Saucedo under arrest, and recovered $660 dollars and the canister of pepper spray from Saucedo.

He was booked into the El Paso County Jail and his bond was set at $65,000.

Police said there have been three robberies in the central area this year, compared to six this time last year.
