Hundreds gather again at Texas airport to protest travel ban

DALLAS (AP) – Demonstrators have gathered again at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to protest President Donald Trump’s travel ban barring citizens of seven predominantly Muslim nations from entry into the U.S.

An estimated 200 people held signs and chanted “Let them go!” as they awaited word Sunday on what state representatives for the Council on American-Islamic Relations say are nine people detained at the airport.

CAIR says the majority of the people being detained at D-FW are Iranian.

Other protests were planned for other parts of Texas over Trump’s executive order, including in Houston and at the airport in Austin.

Hundreds of demonstrators who had gathered Saturday at D-FW airport broke into cheers when travelers caught up in the ban were released.

Protesters stood in the waiting area Saturday and yelled, “This is what democracy looks like.”
