BREAKING: UTEP, hundreds in Sunset Heights without power

Parts of the University of Texas at El Paso and hundreds of residents in neighboring Sunset Heights are without power, an El Paso Electric spokesman told ABC-7.

George de la Torre, a utility spokesman said approximately 2,300 customers are without electricity. The older Medical Center area off Cliff Street was also impacted.

UTEP sent out an alert about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, notifying students, staff and faculty that normal operations will resume soon.

El Paso Electric crews are at UTEP trying to determine the cause.
