Dee Margo elected mayor of El Paso
Dee Margo has been elected mayor of El Paso with nearly 57 percent of the vote.
“I’m fired up,” Margo told ABC-7, “I’m ready to hit the ground running.”
Margo received 17,148 votes while Saucedo garnered 12,937 votes.
The newly-elected mayor said he is concerned tax revenue will not meet the city’s expenses and looks forward to working with the city manager and council to discuss his budget projection concerns.
David Saucedo conceded the race soon after early voting results were released. “I just want El Paso to be successful. I wish Dee Margo nothing but the best. If he is successful, then El Paso will be successful. It’s not about egos, it’s about being the best mayor for El Paso and if I can help him in any way, I’m ready to do it.”
“The money component – being outspent almost three to one – made it incredibly difficult,” Saucedo said when asked why the election was difficult to overcome.
Margo told ABC-7 his number one priority is public safety. “I plan to all the members of City Council and make sure we are all on the same page,” Margo said.
