City offering free HIV testing

As part of a nationwide movement, the City of El Paso is offering free HIV testing Tuesday.

There are over two thousand people living El Paso county with the virus, the Department of Public Health said.

The theme of this year’s campaign is “Test your way, test today.”

“Getting tested is the first step in knowing your own status which gives you powerful information about your own health,” said Irene Ovalle-Valdez, HIV Prevention Program manager . “It’s important to remember that making a national and global impact starts with you.”

The HIV Prevention Program will provide free testing at their location on 701 Montana Ave. from 9 am to 4 pm.

Those unable to attend the event can call 915-212-6665 to set up an appointment.
