Sprucing Up The Classroom: A new garden is coming to one El Paso elementary school
Students at Tippin elementary school are preparing for their new garden. Today they dressed up as superheroes and sorted bio-degradable materials to make compost.
The City of El Paso Community and Human Development Department received a $15,000 grant from Cities of Service. The Tippin Elementary School PTA was awarded a portion of the grant for their school garden.
The garden will be used by students of all ages to provide a hands on learning experience. El Paso is one of 10 cities taking part in the Cities of Service Resilience AmeriCorps program.
The city is engaging with volunteers to build and sustain resilience in low-income neighborhoods through this Garden Grant Program. They aim to create community gardens and increase access to health foods.
