Alleged drunk driver crashes golf cart, injures passenger.

A Las Cruces man was arrested for allegedly crashing a golf cart while driving drunk on Carlton Road Sunday afternoon.

Justin Valenzuela, 33, was allegedly driving a golf cart with three passengers on board. Police said he was was driving east when he lost control of the golf cart and crashed it into a fence, causing it to flip over.

The Las Cruces Police department said one of the passengers was transported to a local hospital with a serious leg injury.

Valenzuela allegedly told deputies that he had been drinking earlier in the day. A records check also revealed Valenzuela has a revoked driver’s license for previous DWI convictions.

Deputies arrested Valenzuela and transported him to the Doña Ana County Detention Center where is being held without bond pending arraignment. He faces charges of aggravated DWI and driving on a revoked license.
