TRAFFIC ALERT: Resler to I-10 East ramp to close for five days

Starting Tuesday night at 9 p.m. the ramp that takes drivers from Resler to I-10 Eastbound will be closed for the next five days.

During the closure, TxDOT crews will be demolishing part of the I-10 Eastbound on-ramp. The goal is to have the new on-ramp ready for drivers on Monday at 6 a.m.

“We are getting ready to demolish it, and we’re also getting ready to open the brand new Resler flyover, so that will be really exciting when we open that,” Spokeswoman for the GO-10 Noemi Rojas said. “The new ramp is mostly done, they just need to tie in the two ends to the street and to I-10.”

Rojas said there’s still work to be done in the area though.

“When it’s in its final design, people instead of getting on to the main lanes of I-10 they’ll be getting on the CD (Collector-Distributor) lanes of I-10. When we open it on Monday morning we will have a temporary on-ramp to the main lanes because we’re still building the CD lanes there.”

Residents in the area will have to either get on I-10 East at Mesa or Sunland Park.

“It’s a big change, I’m ready for it to be done. It’s been a big inconvenience. I get so tired, I go Mesa but then Mesa gets clogged up too, so it’s just been an incredible inconvenience,” Westside resident Brooks Macgruder said.

I-10 West near Resler will shutdown on Sunday at 3 a.m. so that crews can begin the demolition. This will last until Monday at 6 a.m.

Rojas said she understands the public’s frustration but said the change will be worth it.

“It is a five-day closure, we’ve never done that before. People will just have to find another way to get on I-10 for those five days, but the big payoff will be that they’ll be on a brand new ramp at the end,” Rojas said.
