Deshaun Watson tears ACL in practice; expected to miss rest of season
Multiple sources including ESPN and NFL.com are reporting that Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson tore his ACL at practice Thursday and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
The injury reportedly occurred during a non-contact drill. Watson tripped or fell down, according to sources, but was able to stand up immediately. He left practice after the incident to have his knee examined.
Houston head coach Bill O’Brien did not address the injury in his post-practice news conference.
Watson is reportedly facing eight to nine months of rehabilitation. He is expected to be ready for the beginning of the 2018 season, barring any unforeseen setbacks.
Watson is coming off a 402-yard, four touchdown performance against Seattle on Sunday. He was also tied for the league lead in touchdown passes with 19.
