Coronado’s Alexis Hamilton signs with UTEP softball

Coronado softball enjoyed a remarkable run to the Sweet 16 last season, and pitcher/infielder Alexis Hamilton was a big reason for the team’s success.

But she’s just getting started.

Hamilton signed a letter of intent Thursday afternoon at Coronado to continue her softball career at UTEP.

“I mean, ten years ago I never would have imagined myself playing at the college level,” she said. “And now to be here, it’s such an honor. And to be able to play for my hometown and represent for them, it’s an honor to be here.”

Hamilton, who helped lead the Thunderbirds to a perfect record in district play last season, says she’s ready for any challenges she’ll face at the next level.

“I have very high expectations for myself. I need to work even harder than I would have before. You know, everything I’ve done now is just the beginning,” she said.

Hamilton was joined by family, friends, teammates, coaches, and cheerleaders at the signing Thursday. Now, she says she’s ready to make them all proud.

“I have much more to accomplish, and I have a lot to do to prove to the town of El Paso that there’s a lot of talent here at UTEP,” said Hamilton.
