Operation Noel: Zamarripa Family

Veronica Santibaños, 3, shows off her little music box as he two-year-old sister Lluvia watches curiously in the backround.

“They love each other very much,” said Jessica Zamarripa, the girl’s mother, “You can see she takes care of her sister.”

The two sisters are inseperable, and although they have a lot of fun together, their mother is concerned.

“I had worked a couple of jobs last year, but I haven’t been able to find anything this year,” Zamarripa said.

The single mother does not have a car and it’s quite a task getting the kids around to their head start and pre-K programs.

“It’s hard because I have to catch the bus at five in the morning,” she told ABC-7.

The girls have special needs. One suffers from hearing loss in her right ear and both have a speech delay. In addition to school, the girls attend speech therapy classes in the evenings.

“Just to get them to the speech therapy, that’s hard too, because I’m on the bus, the Sun Metro.”

Despite their hard times, Zamarripa feels blessed because she’s able to put food on the table.

“I’m just trying to get a little Christmas tree for them this holiday season,” Zamarripa said.
