Parkland falls to Richland 55-21
Parkland’s run at a state championship came to an end Saturday afternoon in Lubbock, TX.
The Matadors fell to the Richland Rebels 55-21.
Parkland was the only El Paso football team still alive in the playoffs.
The Rebels were just dominate from the very beginning jumping out to a 28-0 lead in the second quarter.
The Matadors would fight back and finally get on the board with a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback De’Quan Henderson to wide receiver AJ Briggs.
Parkland trailed 35-14 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Matadors were knocking on the door of the end zone, but Henderson threw an interception to kill the drive.
In the 4th quarter, Henderson threw another interception that was returned for a touchdown to put the Richland Rebels up 41-14.
Parkland would get only one touchdown in the second half.
The Matadors’ season ends with an overall record of 10-3.//
