Speculation swirls after former Miner star’s tweet

Is UTEP’s star point guard from 2003-2005 back with the basketball team?

Filiberto Rivera, who helped take the team to the NCAA tournament in 2004 and 2005, tweeted a photo of himself inside the practice facility Wednesday with the caption, “It feels good to be back! Proud to be a Miner.”

Rivera has played professional ball overseas after going undrafted in the NBA, according to his Wikipedia page. It still lists him as a member of the professional basketball league in Mexico.

Why is he in El Paso? No explanation from Fili, and no tweets or updates from UTEP Athletics on Twitter or its website.

But the tweeted pic stirred up plenty of adoration and speculation from fans, who praised him for his performance while at UTEP.
