Water main break impacting traffic in west El Paso

El Paso Water confirmed a water main break in west El Paso Thursday morning, impacting the intersection of Mesa Street and Brentwood Avenue.

Spokesman Josh Moniz said the utility received a report that a 12-inch water main broke around 8:19 a.m.

Crews were working to repair part of Mesa Street past 2 a.m. Friday morning.

The break caused flooding that closed the northbound lanes of Mesa at Brentwood.

Area businesses that did have running water told ABC-7 crews it was discolored, and could not be served to guests.

“We also didn’t have any water to serve anything to do dishes or serve water to guests, so we had to shut our doors and basically turn away a lot of business,” said Hoppy Monk manager Andrew Brooks.

Our crews reported seeing cracks in the center lanes on north Mesa Street.
