Chaparral man charged with producing child porn
A Chaparral man accused of producing child pornography 15 different times in 2016 was charged by a federal court Monday in Las Cruces.
The indictment alleges that Martin Rosales, 48, produced child pornography 11 times on Sept. 30, 2016 and four times in Sept. 28, 2016. Rosales is also suspected of possessing child pornography on two micro SD cards and a smartphone. He allegedly committed the crimes in Otero County, N.M.
Rosales, who entered a not guilty plea, is facing 15 counts of producing child pornography and three counts of possessing child pornography. He was arrested last October in Doña Ana County, after a criminal complaint charged him with child exploitation and child pornography, and alleged that Rosales sexually exploited children for two years.
An investigation was initiated in April of 2017, after a neighbor reported to Doña Ana County Sheriffs that Rosales allegedly possessed a tablet computer containing child pornography.
If convicted of producing child pornography, Rosales faces a minimum penalty of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in federal prison. If convicted of possessing child pornography, Rosales faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.
