Suspect accused of meth trafficking pleads guilty
A Las Cruces man charged with possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute pled guilty Wednesday in a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Gilberto Garcia, 42, was arrested last October after law enforcement seized approximately 128 grams of meth from Garcia’s vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.
In entering the guilty plea, Garcia admitted that on May 10, 2017, Las Cruces Police seized approximately 80.5 grams of meth that he said he intended to distribute.
A sentencing hearing for Garcia has yet to be scheduled. He faces a minimum penalty of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.
