UPDATE: Police identify elderly man who died in crash
El Paso police have identified the elderly man who died after crashing into a signal pole early Friday morning along Doniphan Drive and Spur 16.
Police say 76-year-old Thomas L. Peek, of Alamogordo, was driving westbound on Doniphan when he lost control of the vehicle and struck the signal pole.
Investigators say the man died at the scene and are continuing to investigate.
The incident blocked traffic at the intersection by the Outlet Shoopes of El Paso in the Upper Valley.
