Price tag for I-10 Connect reaches $90 million
The El Paso Metro Planning Organization approved a $10 million request Friday from the Texas Department of Transportation for the ongoing “I-Connect” project.
The budget increase moved the project’s price tag to $90 million. The project is designed to improve access from I-10 to Loop 375.
“The price we’re going with now will include some innovative ways of building,” Department of Transportation spokesperson Jennifer Wright said. “We received some complaints from the community about the air quality that came about due to trucks lining up on Paisano.”
It is expected to improve mobility in the area near the Chamizal and decrease traffic leading to the port of entry.
Residents in the area urged the Department of Transportation to address bridge traffic on residential streets.
