Police identify hit and run victim as 12-year-old autistic girl
El Paso Police say a 12-year-old girl with autism was killed after she was struck by a vehicle early Monday morning on the 5600 block of Dyer Street.
Investigators say Kianna Johnson, of El Paso, walked out of her home between 8 pm and 1:15 am and was crossing Dyer Street, which is not a designated crosswalk.
The pedestrian, who died at the scene, was hit by an unknown vehicle that was traveling North bound on Dyer, according to police.
El Paso Independent School District spokesperson Gustavo Reveles confirmed that Johnson was a student at Richardson Middle School.
The vehicle involved in the incident has yet to be identified as the investigation continues. Anyone with information regarding the collision, the vehicle or the driver are asked to call El Paso Police at 915-832-4400.
