Complaint Affidavit: El Paso attorney accused of assaulting girlfriend

An El Paso attorney is accused of assaulting his girlfriend after a night of bar hopping, a complaint affidavit states.

On February 1, 2018, police charged Mark Davis with “assault causing bodily injury/family violence,” the court document states.

The previous night, police responded to a residence on the 300 block of Sharondale in reference to an assault in progress. When officers arrived at the home, they met with a woman who identified herself as Davis’ girlfriend.

The woman told police she and Davis were bar hopping, became intoxicated and began arguing over a planned trip when they arrived at Davis’ residence, the complaint affidavit states.

Davis allegedly grabbed the woman “by both arms and pushed her to the ground,” the court document states, “the woman fell on her back, hitting her elbows on the ground, causing her to feel pain and discomfort.”

The document states the woman got up, but Davis grabbed her, pushed her to the front door and allegedly threw her to the ground outside.

When police officers arrived at the home, they allegedly noticed the accuser had “redness and swelling to both elbows from when she fell on the ground,” the affidavit states.

The woman told police officers “she was very scared” of Davis and repeatedly told officers “he’s going to kill me,” the document states. The accuser demanded an emergency protective order, police wrote in the report.

The complaint affidavit states police officers knocked on the front door repeatedly and made loud verbal commands asking Davis to come out of the home. Davis did not exit the residence, police said.

Davis bonded out of jail the same day he was charged, posting a $2,500 bond.
