UTEP basketball team sends fan to NBA All-Star game
The UTEP men’s basketball team had a special visitor during practice Wednesday.
A young man, only identified as Ricky in the video that was posted on the team’s Twitter page, was able to meet the players and coach Phil Johnson.
“You are an official Miner today,” Johnson said, then told Ricky that the team would play Saturday’s game against UTSA in his honor.
But that wasn’t all.
The Miners had teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant Ricky a wish to attend the NBA All-Star game in Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 18.
There was one more reveal.
“You’re also going to go to Universal Studios and you’re going to hang out with all the players,” guard Trey Touchet told Ricky, right before the team let out a cheer and hugged Ricky.
