Deputy attempts to hug his way to World Record

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office deputy Jamar Cotton tried breaking a world record Saturday afternoon.

Cotton attempted to give most hugs in one minute.

His goal was to give 110 hugs in 60 seconds. He hugged dozens during halftime at the New Mexico State Aggies basketball game.

Cotton is a seven-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office.

The record to beat was 86 hugs, which was set in October of 2017.

The results of his attempt are pending, but unofficially he hugged 114 people.
