UTEP seniors go out with a win at home, Miners take down Southern Miss, 73-44

It’s been a rough season for the UTEP Miners with very few bright spots.

However, Saturday night was one to remember for the UTEP seniors.

In their final game at the Don Haskins Center, the UTEP seniors went out with a win after the Miners completely dominated the Southern Miss Eagles by a final of 73-44.

The Miners never gave up the lead in the contest.

It was UTEP’s 10th win of the season and it was a win the Miners desperately needed in order to stay put in the 12th place spot of the Conference USA standings.

Only 12 teams make it to the conference tournament.

While UTEP senior Omega Harris had a big night for the Miners putting up 18 points, it was actually UTEP freshman Evan Gilyard who led the way in scoring for the Miners with 22 points.

UTEP has two big road games coming up.

First up a Thursday visit to Rice.

The Owls also have their sights on the 12th and final spot of the C-USA tournament.

UTEP then wraps up the regular season with a road trip to take on the North Texas Mean Green.
