UTEP to release more Metallica tickets Thursday and Friday
More Metallica tickets for the Don Haskins Center will be released Thursday and Friday, the director of special events at UTEP told ABC-7.
Many fans were concerned to see only a handful of seats in the Don Haskins Center seating chart Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, with many believing the the show is nearly sold out.
Jorge Vasquez, with UTEP Special Events, told ABC-7 more tickets will be released for the venue presale Thursday and the general public sale Friday.
Vasquez told ABC-7 UTEP sold more than 11,000 tickets for the Elton John concert, which had a similar center stage setup. Vasquez expects more tickets will be sold for the Metallica concert.
ABC-7 asked Vasquez about fans who experienced problems while trying to buy tickets online during the pre-sales. Vasquez said there were simply more people trying to buy tickets, than tickets made available, and that’s why fans may have seen an error message.
As for the reason tickets for Metallica are going on sale a whole year in advance, Vazquez says that’s just how the band’s agency planned it. Brian Kennedy, the CEP of the El Paso Sports Commission, told ABC-7 it’s very unusual tickets go on sale this early, which means there’s a possibility they’ll be seeing a lot of re-sales.
