Bicyclist rescued from Franklin Mountains

Emergency crews were called to the Franklin Mountains Sunday afternoon to rescue a bicyclist.

Officials responded to Kingery Drive and Robinson Avenue around 2 p.m.

Fire officials said the man used his cellphone to help first responders find his location by sending his coordinates.

Officials said the bicyclist was riding when he fell and injured himself.

Fire officials said all hikers should have their cellphones on them in case of emergencies. They recommend hikers use pin drops, grid coordinates or even photos to help crews find them if they’re in distress.
