NMSU & Clemson will battle in the first round of the NCAA Tournament

It was clear Saturday night that the NMSU Aggies were going dancing, but what they didn’t know is who they would play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Sunday, the Aggies got their answer.

As a 12th seed, the NMSU Aggies will face the 5th seed, Clemson Tigers, in the first round of the tournament Friday in San Diego, CA.

The Aggies find themselves in the Midwest region with some big name teams like Auburn, Michigan State and Kansas.

The Kansas Jayhawks are the number one seed in the region and could potentially face the Aggies in the Sweet 16 of the tournament if both teams win their first and second round games.

NMSU first has to get through Clemson.

The Tigers are out of the ACC and will enter Friday’s game with 23-9 record.

They’re coming off a loss to the number one ranked team in the nation, Virginia, in the semi-finals of the ACC Tournament.

Meantime, the Aggies are coming into the game with a 28-5 record and they’re riding some momentum after winning the WAC Tournament Championship on Saturday night.
