CBP: More than 1,000 pounds of pot hidden in tile shipment

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 1,666 pounds of marijuana being transported with a shipment of commercial clay tile at the Presidio Port of Entry Friday.

The seizure occurred at 3:30 pm when a flatbed trailer, driven by a Mexican male, entered the Presidio cargo facility. CBP officers described the shipment as 16 pallets of Saltillo clay tile.

The shipment was taken for an intensive inspection and a CBP canine swept the shipment, resulting in a positive alert for contraband.

CBP officers discovered single bundles of marijuana in 128 of the boxes included in the shipment. Each bundle weighed about 13 pounds, according to CBP.

The tile and flatbed trailer were seized. No arrests were made as the investigation continues.
