Alaska police arrest two Las Cruces women in alleged home invasion

Police in Sitka, Alaska arrested two Las Cruces women in connection to an alleged home invasion where a women was shot in both legs.

The Daily Sitka Sentinal reported that four suspects were arrested and one remains on the loose after an incident Sunday that police described as “drug and money related”. Two of the suspects were Christina Quintana, 32, and 22-year-old Andrea Avalos, both of Las Cruces.

The incident occurred at an Alaska home where police say the victim arrived to her home and found assailants lying in wait. The victim was forced into her home at gunpoint by one of the suspects and Quintana shot her on both legs, according to police.

Quintana and Avalos allegedly fled the scene and were taken into custody Monday in Crescent Harbor, Alaska, where they were hiding in a boat.

According to police, a nearby resident found a backpack in a trash bin, containing ammunition and a New Mexico identification.

The two Las Cruces suspects were each charged with assault in the first degree, assault in the second and third degrees, burglary in the first degree and misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second and fourth degrees.

Quintana’s bail was set at $1 million and Avalos’ was set at $500,000.

Police are continuing the search for the remaining suspect, Peter Krovina.
