Pancakes for education: students receive free pancake breakfast

Students at Henderson Middle school received a free pancake breakfast during Saturday tutoring.

The pancake breakfast was to help students prepare for the upcoming state testing.

The pancakes were prepared in the Bowie High food truck and served by teachers, alumi and members of the state champion Henderson Chess Team.

Principal of Henderson Middle Elizabeth Maldonado said, “It’s very important to come in, to connect with the kids, to be mentors and to be good role model.”

A donation was given to the school from the “Moye’s Boys,” which help the school purchase the pancakes.

The “Moye’s Boys” are a group of Jefferson High alumni’s who played for or studied under former Principal H.R. Moye.
