Tony Hawk visiting borderland for skating exhibition

The world-famous skateboarder Tony Hawk is visiting Socorro for an exhibition.

Hundreds have turned up to the Pakitu Skate Plaza to watch the skating icon in action. The skate plaza has been packed all day. Skaters have been showing off their skills with competitions all day, as families gathered around food trucks and listened to music enjoying the crowds.

Competitions started at 11 am and people have all been enjoying the park waiting for Tony Hawk to come out. Skaters said this has been a great help for skateboarders in the area.

“Oh it definitely brings people together, a contest always brings people out. It’s a time when everyone can get together and skate, even if it’s not necessarily for competition, just hang out with the homies and have fun,” said Richey Dominguez, a local skater.

The exhibition is scheduled to go on until from 5:00 pm-6:00pm.
