El Paso Chihuahuas to take on the San Diego Padres Monday night

For the first time since 2016, the El Paso Chihuahuas will play the San Diego Padres at Southwest University Park Monday night.

The last time the two teams squared off was in an exhibition in March of 2016. The Chihuahuas lead that game 7-5 in the 4th inning, but the Padres went on to win by a final of 13-9.

“The Padres have been tremendous partners through our first four seasons providing our fans with top tier, up-and-coming talent,” said Chihuahuas Vice President and General Manager Brad Taylor.

The event is designed to celebrate the fifth season of Chihuahuas baseball. And, it’s a way for the Padres to thank El Paso fans for their support of the team’s Triple-A affiliate.

“Well, it’s one of the things about the Padres organization as a whole. It’s really fan-friendly. And they have a real appreciation – the players, the ownership, the front office – for what El Paso and our Chihuahuas fans mean to their players and to the organization,” said Chihuahuas President Alan Ledford.

Monday night’s game begins at 6:05 p.m.
