Chihuahuas win third straight game against Reno Thursday
The Chihuahuas have won the first three games of their seven-game road trip after defeating the Reno Aces Thursday night by a final score of 6-5.
El Paso jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a Franmil Reyes homer.
The Chihuahuas then added two more in the second. Kyle Lloyd laid down a bunt that was fielded by Reno catcher Michael Perez. Perez tried to get an out at third base, but his throw sailed into the outfield, allowing a pair of runners to score.
El Paso then added two more in the fifth courtesy of a Brett Nicolas solo home run and a Nick Schulz sacrifice fly to go up 6-0.
Reno responded with four runs in the bottom half of the fifth to cut El Paso’s lead to 6-4.
The Aces added another run in the sixth to cut the gap to one, but the Chihuahuas would shut them down the rest of the way.
The Chihuahuas improved to 10-5 with the win while Reno fell to 4-11.
The two teams will meet for the final game of their four-game series Friday before the Chihuahuas head to Las Vegas for a three-game series.
