Traffic stop leads to cocaine seizure inside Central El Paso home

Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man for possession of narcotics following an alleged cocaine seizure during a traffic stop.

On Monday, June 4th, sheriffs deputies stopped the vehicle driven by Curtis Mitchell, 59, at the 3900 block of Harrison Avenue. During a search, deputies allegedly discovered four baggies of cocaine inside the vehicle.

Following the discovery of narcotics in the suspect’s vehicle, investigators turned their attention to the suspect’s home, located at the 3900 block of Mountain Avenue. There, deputies allegedly discovered an additional five baggies of cocaine, along with more than $5,000.

Deputies say the approximate combined weight of the cocaine baggies seized in the car and inside the home was three grams.

Mitchell was arrested and booked into El Paso County Jail.
