Hospitals of Providence hosts graduation ceremony for patient’s daughter

Aurora Ramirez was recently hospitalized after she had emergency surgery. She was unable to attend her daughter’s high school graduation, so the Hospitals of Providence decided to bring the ceremony to her in the hospital.

“She waited basically her whole life to see me walk and she couldn’t do that. So for this to happen is a pretty big deal,” says Scarlett Orozco, Ramirez’s daughter.

The Franklin High School cheer-leading and guard teams came to the ceremony, along with principal Shawn Mena.

“It was hard for me not to go to tears myself because you know you have so much empathy with moms, when you know that this is a special moment for them. So I was really grateful that we could be here and provide that for her.”

Scarlett plans to go on to study at UTEP in the fall.
