Three In Custody as El Paso Police Tackle String Of Burglaries Throughout City

A string of Westside robberies involving a Sunland Park man and Canutillo woman has come to an end, El Paso Police say

El Paso Police Department’s Westside Tactical unit arrested Francisco Villescas, 24; and Cristal Peña, 19, after establishing a connection between a home they allegedly burglarized at the 800 block of Live Oak and six other homes burglarized over the past month.

According to investigators, Villescas and Peña allegedly burglarized homes on multiple occasions by gaining entry via open garage doors overnight as the residence inside slept. Once inside, the pair would allegedly steal a variety of property, including cell phones, electronics, jewelry, work equipment, weapons, or even vehicles.

Other homes allegedly burglarized by Villecas and Peña are in the:

– 700 block of Rinconada Lane

– 5700 block of Santis

– 5600 block of Navarie Place

– 6800 block of Orizaba

– 7700 block of Maple Landing Ct

– 700 block of Green Cove

– 800 block of Dulcinea Ct

Villescas is held at a $395,000 bond and faces charges of nine counts of burglary of habitation, two counts of evading arrest and detention, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by felon. Peña is held at a $431,000 bond and faces charges of nine counts of burglary of habitation, one count of resisting arrest, one count of evading arrest and detention, and one count of theft.

Westside Tactical is asking anyone who was a victim of a recent Burglary, where access was gained to the home via an open garage door to contact them at as soon as possible at (915) 212-0370.

In addition to the arrests of Villescas and Peña, investigators in the Lower Valley arrested Adolfo Cornejo, 28, for allegedly burglarizing six homes.

Police said Cornejo was responsible for the burglaries after property stolen from the victims was allegedly discovered in Cornejo’s car, apartment, and a pawnshop.

Cornejo was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility and faces charges of six counts of burglary of habitation. He is being held under bonds totaling $300,000.
