Report: Former UTEP football player has fought 5 teammates since Giants drafted him

A former UTEP player has been involved in five fights with teammates since being drafted in 2018, according to Dead Serious’ Twitter account.

Will Hernandez was drafted with the second pick in the second round by the New York Giants. The most recent brawl happened at the team’s mandatory training minicamp. According to 12UP.com, Giant’s defensive end Damon Harrison seemingly swung a helmet at Hernandez, starting the fight.

The team’s trainer, Ronnie Barnes, said Hernandez did get a few punches in before the two teammates were pulled apart.

The fight also resulted in Nate Solder’s leg being injured. Barnes reported that Solder was “walking gingerly” on his leg after it appeared to get rolled over in the brawl.

Bleacher Report says “fights at minicamps and training camps are the norm around the NFL.” Eli Manning has even praised Hernandez for being involved in so many fights. Manning stated, “Will Hernandez has already been in five fights. I love it.”

Hernandez was a former left guard for UTEP from 2014 to 2017. He was named the 2016 AP All American second team, making him the first UTEP lineman to receive this honor.
