Project Home seeks to keep drunk drivers off the road

Doña Ana County is working to bring the cost of a night out down through its Project Home Program.

The County told ABC-7 the project will help keep drivers off the road after they have had a few drinks.

The program, which has been running for the past five years, allows county residents to get quick and discounted rides home from bars. All residents need to do is call for a Las Cruces Taxi on their way home and they will only have to pay $5 to $10 for the trip, depending on the group’s size. The County picks up the rest of the tab, no matter where you are dropped off.

Eric Bransford, who works for Doña Ana Health and Human Services, states, “that’s anywhere in the county. If they’re here in Las Cruces, they can go to Hatch or Chaparral, as long as it’s within the county.”

The only place the cab will not drop you within the county is another bar.

Riders can also get a return ride to their vehicle the next morning for free if they used the service the night before.

To use Project Home, just call 525-TAXI, or 575-524-8294.
