CBP now accepting applications for Global Entry Program

The Global Entry Program, one of four U.S. Customs and Border Protection “Trusted Travelers Programs” is now accepting applications.

The program offers faster entry into the US for pre-approved, low risk travelers. Approval in as little as four weeks allows travelers to skip the long customs lines at the airport as well as slow travel lanes at international ports of entry.

At the airport, members check in at a Global Entry kiosk, insert their machine-readable passport or US permanent resident card, put their finger on a scanner for fingerprint verification, and complete a customs declaration. Once a receipt is printed, the traveler goes to baggage claim.

Members entering the US from the Mexico or Canadian border will use the SENTRI expedited travel lanes, which are different from the Ready Lanes currently available.

You do not need to be a US citizen to apply. To begin the application, CLICK HERE. The program fee is $122.25, and good for 5-years, but a $25 application fee will get you started. US citizens need a passport, non-US citizens need a passport and visa, to apply.

The El Paso International Aiport is hosting a CBP outreach for the program through June 22 from 7 am – 5 pm. Officers, from the port of entry SENTRI enrollment center, will be there to help people enroll and answer questions.

TSA Agents are also there with the CBP to talk to travelers about checkpoint procedures at the airport. The El Paso Roads and Bridges Department will be there with information regarding the Fast Pass.
