Eagles make good on promise to give Jon Dorenbos a Super Bowl ring

The Philadelphia Eagles made good on their promise to deliver a Super Bowl ring to former long snapper Jon Dorenbos Thursday.

Dorenbos, who played his college football at UTEP, spent 11 seasons with the Eagles before being traded.

Today, the Eagles posted a video on Twitter of Dorenbos opening a box containing his ring.

The Eagles defeated the Patriots 41-33 in February to claim their first Super Bowl victory. After the game, the organization informed Dorenbos he would be getting a ring in the coming months.

“A light goes on! Are you serious? So, you open this bad boy up and a light goes on? Wow! I don’t even want to touch it,” Dorenbos can be heard saying in the video while opening the box.

The Eagles traded their longtime long snapper to the Saints before the start of this past season. During a medical evaluation, however, a doctor discovered Dorenbos had a heart condition that required surgery and would force him to stop playing football.

But the Eagles didn’t want him to leave the game like that. So, now, he’s leaving the game with a ring.

Dorenbos also practices magic in his spare time. His act earned him a third place finish on “America’s Got Talent” in 2016.
