EPCSO gives public chance to pay off misdemeanors, warrants

The El Paso county sheriff’s office starts its safe streets program today and goes through the next four weeks.
The satellite booking office is on the lower level of the county courthouse and is open eight to five Monday through Friday. and i guess you can say it’s a one stop shop handling warrants for felonies and misdemeanors.

This is what the satellite booking office looks like. Before this program you would have to turn yourself in at the jail. That process could potentially take hours.

A detention officer will now be available to process your case.

This is how the process works. You must have a bond agent representing you, your paperwork will be processed, fingerprints & picture taken and judge provided if necessary through video conferencing.

I spoke with County Court Administrator Amy Lechuga and this is what she had to say.
“It’s a very quick process, you can be processed in up to half an hour. You need to contact a bonding company first and they will bring you over to the courthouse, lower level, you get booked and your done!”

People around El Paso seem to agree with how easy the program is and the accessibility of the office.

Zach Barrett said this, “Initially its probably a pretty good plan. No one wants to be embarrassed or humiliated at their, especially at their work and or home because neighbors may see you being arrested for having a warrant. So yeah its probably a good way or approach for the county to get the money they are deserved or are owed to them.”
