Elderly man beaten, robbed at South-Central El Paso carwash

El Paso Police are asking the public for help identifying the man seen on surveillance assaulting an elderly man at a South-Central El Paso car wash.

On the morning of Thursday, June 21, 2018, a 75-year-old man arrived at work at “Rob’s Car wash” at 6901 Delta. The victim began sweeping the car wash bays, and found the suspect asleep in one of the bays, police said.

Police said the victim woke the suspect and the suspect began to charge and punch the elderly man in the face. The victim attempted to call for help and was punched more times by the suspect, police said.

Police said the suspect took the victim’s cell phone, picked up a blanket he was using to sleep and fled the scene with the victim’s phone.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic man, 30 to 40 years old, 5’7″ in height, with a medium build and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing dark sunglasses, a blue long-sleeved shirt, blue denim jean pants and black athletic shoes.

Anyone with any information on the identity of the robber is asked to immediately call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 566-8477(TIPS), or on-line at www.crimestoppersofelpaso.org.

You will remain anonymous and, if your tip leads to an arrest, you can qualify for a cash reward.
