Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl head coaches hold news conference ahead of Tuesday’s game
EL PASO, Texas-- The Tony The Tiger Sun Bowl game is only a day away and head coaches for both Florida State and Arizona State took part in a press conference early Monday morning to discuss the game.
Arizona State head coach Herm Edwards is in the process of building the Arizona State program, having led his team to a 7-5 record this season.
Notorious for his ability as a motivational speaker, Edwards spoke of how he and Coach Haggins are not “coaching players”, but rather “coaching young men.”
He preached the importance preparing many of his players for life after football, as only 2% statistically will go on to the NFL. Tuesday's Sun Bowl game is another opportunity to teach.
As far as preparing for Florida State, Coach Edwards said his players need no motivation preparing for the National name brand that is the Seminoles.
Florida State interim head coach Odell Haggins time as the head coach is limited to just tomorrow’s game, but he will still stay on staff under new coach Mike Norvell. Next year, Haggins will be the longest tenured assistant in college football, a testament to his respect within the college football community.
Haggins spoke about how staying at FSU for so long has been a blessing, and it’s not his vision, but rather God’s vision.
He preached the importance of serving as an advisor to these young men when making decisions regarding the NFL Draft.
Kickoff for the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl game will be at Noon on Tuesday December 31st. Tickets are still available. Click Here to purchase your tickets today.
