EL PASO, Texas -- Juno the elephant has successfully completed her fourth breast cancer treatment procedure.

The El Paso Zoo said Monday that the 52-year-old Asian elephant is recovering and closely being monitored after her procedure to take care of a malignant mass in her right mammary gland.

“Our goal with electrochemotherapy and electrogene therapy is to decrease the size of the mass, make the disease static, and keep Juno comfortable without systemic side effects,” El Paso Zoo veterinarian Dr. Victoria Milne said in a news release.

Juno is one of two Asian elephants at the El Paso Zoo.
