Las Cruces man arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of children

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico — A Las Cruces man has been arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of children, authorities said Friday.

Las Cruces police arrested Cheyenne Downing, 29, after serving a morning search warrant in the 5000 block of Calle Del Ranchero.

According to police, the search came after investigators with the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office discovered someone was distributing child pornography on a peer-to-peer file-sharing program at the Calle Del Ranchero address.

The Department of Homeland Security and Las Cruces police said the two agencies worked together to confirm the child pornography had been distributed from Downing’s location.

No further details of the case were provided by authorities.
