Mesa Street, I-10 east in El Paso among most congested roads in Texas
EL PASO, Texas -- Two of the 100 worst congested roads in Texas are located here in El Paso.
According to the annual study released by the Texas A&M transportation institute, some of the heaviest El Paso commute congestion is on Mesa Street between Executive Center Blvd. and downtown.
There's an average five minute delay there when traffic builds up in the area, peaking between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. as drivers have to slow down to just 20 miles an hour.
The other congested stretch in El Paso is along Interstate 10 eastbound from downtown to the “Spaghetti Bowl.”
Motorists along that route experience an extra eight minute delay on average, with vehicles having to slow down to 33 miles an hour on the highway during the 5 p.m. peak.
