El Paso Police say a woman was shot Sunday afternoon in Northeast El Paso.
Police responded to a house on the 10300 block of Mackinaw at around 4:16 pm and saw a woman with a gun wound. She was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say a man was taken into custody. Neither the suspect nor victim have been identified.
Police also say this incident had no connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in Northeast El Paso earlier in the morning.
One neighbor said she heard shouting before the incident and a rain storm, reported around 4:16 pm.
“It was just a lot of yelling. I heard through my room, so I came up to the window, I peeked but I didn’t see anything, it just sounded like couples were fighting,” said Esmeralda Medina.
Then a thunderstorm broke out.
The gunshots themselves? Every neighbor we spoke with said they didn’t hear anything until the rains passed.
“At that time it was pouring, there was like a storm passing by. So, I didn’t hear anything, but we did see everyone pulling up,” Medina said.
“We saw the ambulance pass by, he saw the ambulance pass by, and he came out to check, and that’s when he saw the police,” said Beatrice Reed, another nieghbor.
Police said a woman was shot, wounded, and taken to the hospital with serious injuries
One neighbor telling ABC-7 she saw a man being arrested and a gun taken away, information police confirmed.
“The incident, preliminary investigation reveals, this is going to be a domestic related incident and CAPO does have one male in custody at this time,” said Darrel Petry with the El Paso Police Department.
The woman is still in medical care, the number and severity of gunshot wounds are not available yet.
Police say there is no clear link between this shooting and the deadly shooting earlier today at this time.
