ARMED & DANGEROUS: Anthony man subject of nationwide extradition warrant

A 35-year-old Anthony man wanted on at least two violent felony charges is now the subject of a nationwide extradition warrant and should be considered “armed and dangerous,” the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.

Detectives are hoping the public might be able to help locate Alberto Acosta, whose last known address is in the 900 block of Vistoso Loop in Anthony, New Mexico.

Acosta is wanted on charges of child abuse, and was most recently suspected of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in an incident that happened at approximately 3 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Otero Road.

Monday, Acosta was named as a suspect in two separate incidents involving allegedly stolen vehicles.

Acosta is described as five feet, 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted via www.crimestoppersLC.info or by downloading the Crime Stoppers app, which can be found using the search phrase “P3 TIPS.” Information can be made anonymous and the caller need not leave a name to collect a reward.
